"Playing at the Park".


Project description

This fellowship is to conduct a small project targeted at parents and carers of children aged 1-9 years within the Shire of Roebourne. This includes the towns of Karratha, Dampier, Roebourne and Wickham, and the Cheeditha Aboriginal Community.

Aims:

To encourage parents and carers to use local playground equipment to promote play and developmental skills in children within the Shire of Roebourne.

To prevent difficulties and or delays in the areas of play, socialisation, coordination, motor skill acquisition and cognitive acquisition in children within the Shire of Roebourne.

To promote early identification of developmental delay or difficulty with skill acquisition. 

Objectives:

1. To promote a variety of play skills in young children.
2. To promote early language development in young children.
3. To promote gross and fine motor skill development in young children.
4. To promote effective sensory modulation skills in young children.
5. To promote cooperative skills among peers and families.
6. To promote socialisation skills amongst young children.
7. To promote family development and positive parenting skills.
